Olivine Marketplace:
The Fine Print
-
Olivine Marketing was founded in 2016 with a focus on product marketing for B2B SaaS and have since established ourselves as leaders in the space. We’ve organically grown beyond a full-service agency with the introduction of Olivine Marketplace and Olivine Playbooks.
Olivine Marketplace connects startups with vetted product marketing consultants and supports the engagement to make it great.
Olivine Playbooks is our self-serve marketing strategy program to help early-stage founders and first-marketing hires through tactical marketing playbooks, templates & expert consulting.
You can see how we think about product marketing on our blog and newsletter.
-

Overview
About Olivine Marketplace and what kind of work you can do (and can’t do) with a product marketing consultant.
-
Setting up basic access on email, Slack/Teams, and project management. Intake to get familiar with your brand, products, and team members.
-
Conducting the customer interview, writing content, and collaborating with design (add time for customer approvals).
-
Working with product team to understand how it works, developing content, collaborating with design, and reviews/iterations.
-
Depends on the quality of existing competitor analysis, positioning, and messaging work. Working with sales to understand what’s working and what’s not. Crafting content and collaborating with design, making sure it resonates with sales folks and then listening in on pitch calls with the new deck.
-
For making a splash with Product Hunt Launch, Landing Page, Emails, Social, Press, Video etc you’ll likely need a minimum of 6 weeks to do it well.
-
Aligning on sitemap, new homepage, product pages, and company content. Working with product to identify product assets, collaborating with design, getting everyone to approve, then build in production.
Estimated Timelines

We invoice on the first day of each month with Net 30 terms. If your contract starts mid-month, we will send an invoice at the start of the contract prorated for the number of weeks to be worked before the next month begins.
-
Olivine Marketplace is new, so yes, we’re still dialing in packaging and are eager to hear how we can meet your needs. Let us know what you have in mind.
If you’re looking for a bigger scope, consider our full-service agency offering which includes product marketers, copywriters, designers, and developers.
Pricing & Packaging
Olivine Marketplace engagements are designed to be smaller scopes than a full-service agency and more nimble since you’re working with a single PMM.
Terms & Conditions
The finest print.
Both the client and the consultant must mutually agree to work together,
there is no forced matching.
Hours are based on a retainer agreement, not billed time and materials. Allotted hours are a “use-it-or-lose-it” situation.
The client owns all rights to work and will be hosted in the company drive.
We invoice on the first of each month with Net 30-day payment terms. If an invoice payment is late, all work will be paused until payment is complete.
The minimum contract length is 3 months, after that the engagement renews automatically until either client or consultant gives 30-day written cancellation notice.
It is up to the client and the consultant to mutually agree on working hours and response times.
If you are not satisfied with the work of your consultant, Olivine will help mediate to get things back on track. If that doesn’t work, we’ll find you a new consultant that’s a better fit for your company.
We charge a contract-to-hire fee of 15% of the first year’s salary if you choose to hire a consultant from our Marketplace in-house. Valid for 1 year from the start date of Marketplace engagement.
Clients & consultants that decide to move off of the Olivine Marketplace agreement will be removed from exclusive member content and ongoing resources.
Consultants are expected to have their own email, Zoom, and time management tools.
Clients are expected to provide communication channels, file storage, and project management tools. Typically they create an email for the consultant.
We want everyone to have a safe, healthy work environment and we have a “no jerks” policy.
